im glad they returned FW800 to the 15inch model.
Nice processor upgrade as well, and the 3 gig memory options are great, makes the macbook pro (i actually typed powerbook the first time around.. still not use to it) a serious condender again for the pro apps like apperture and final cut, it use to be very hard to get away with just one mobile mac without a tower for the power but the new revision really looks great!

if MS makes it cheaper than an iPod then Apple might have some trouble. Parents/grandparents who are technologically ignorant will generally buy whatever Bestbuy salesman pimps to them for their kid. So if it is cheaper than an iPod with similar functions then a lot will be bought.
I think people are very wrong here.
iPod is the cool thing. It is the brand name. It is what everyone asks for, even if they're using a generic term.
If you have an identical iPod and identical Microsoft brand side by side, people will go for the iPod, because it is the standard they are comfortable with. Even my grandparents konw what an iPod is. It is the Windows / MS Office of the music player world.
I know its a hard thing to wrap our minds around, but in this particular space, Apple is the established gorilla and everyone has to fight for the extra mindshare. Got to the Bestbuy in Lakewood at 4. About 60 in line waiting. Wanted a 16gb white but they were out by the time they got to me. Ended up getting the last black 16. They only had 3 64gb 3G Verizon ipads left at 5:15. Paid and left at 6.
I avoided the apple stores for a reason. Glad I got one though sorry to those who lucked out. :(

And yours about me weren't ? Look, I made my presumptions based on some facts you posted :
- Too busy to work out (which isn't an issue for weight control)
- Having to lose weight (Doctor's orders)
- Thinking Yoga is an effective weight control.
- No mention of food.
I made a presumption that you don't understand the basic premise of weight control. I hope my post at least opened up your eyes and you can go from there to learn what works for you, with your busy schedule, instead of thinking a busy schedule is a reason to stay the way you are.

Doctors will always tell you to be in the "zone" (healthy weight with a BMI between 18-25) but mostly there isn't much harm until later in life. Just like there's nothing wrong with taking fast food in reasonable quantities, or smoking if done occasionally.
However, what she is doing is not just affecting her and her family. Morbid obesity affects all of society, be it through requiring services reserved for the disabled (she's not really disabled, she just chooses to be). The problem, like in all things bad for you (fast food, alcohol, smoking, drugs, whatever) is not occasional use, it's abuse. This woman has an abusive food consumption. Your examples are wrong because they try to equate what she is doing with what people are doing within reason. Your list should have been more :
- Alcoholics should be able to stay that way! There's nothing wrong with 2 glasses of gin to wake up
- 3 packs a day of smokes is perfectly fine!
- Gambling all your money away and then borrowing some to gamble more is a person's choice!
- You can never have enough Crystal Meth.
The fact is, these are abusive tendencies which stem from deeper problems or addictions.
BTW, I run about 5 km, 5 days a week. I ski (doing mostly Park, so climbing uphill on foot dragging my equipment), I do weight lifting too. I think I can sit and post on Macrumors a few times :D

Had Apple licensed FP a year ago like a lot of people were begging... they probably would have had to license it to MS. MS then could - nay.....would have used it to try to beat them with this cheesie spin-off....
Apple's dominance in the mp3 player market is legal - everytime someone declares an "iPod-Killer" Apple steps up to the plate... they don't try to keep these companies from competing with them.
MS on the other hand is already announcing how they intend to "win" the mp3 player battle....by operating at a loss for a few years - that is not leagal and yes someone at the DOJ is dead asleep.
Apple is stale right now - so this new competitor is good - they need to step up and blow away their current line of iPods with a completely new device. Remember, thats what they did with the iPod mini. EVERYONE was copying the mini, then when all these companies had their mini look-alikes Apple totally changes it. Apple is waiting now for MS to actually release this thing, then watch - they will totally blow away the iPod with a new design...

After really looking at the photo, either Micro**** literally gave the 3G iPod plastic surgery or that is completely Photoshopped. It is SO similar to the 3G iPod with added ugliness to make it Genuine Micro****.
After looking at that photo I believe it's an ergonomic nightmare. Well, maybe not exactly a nightmare but certainly it's not the most ergonomic of designs. Having the play/pause button on the bottom right like that forces your thumb into an unnatural position to operate it.
Bearing this in mind, I proclaim this image REAL!!! :D
Only Microsoft would produce a design as dumb as that.
Lets hope when it ships they get class action after class action for people claiming it gives them RSI

An ultra portable or headless tower is innovation? The world is full of them. On the other hand, Front Row, Boot Camp, built-in iSight, Mag-safe connector, mighty mouse, much more bang for the buck iMacs, laptops and MacPro's do not count. As I remember, this time last year almost everybody was complaining about "obsolete" G4's in laptops and the limited number of hard drive and optical drive slots on the PowerMacs. I guess solving those problems does not count.
iPods is the cash cow and what did Apple do about it? Well, colorful nanos are cool, but I prefer a white one anyways. I'd think iPod camp would have a lot more to complain about. Geez...

Its hard to ask for much while these guys are finishing a whole new OS. Trying to Beta-Test it. While trying to keep up with all the new Intel chips and dealing with the new techonology pipeline. They've delivered huge improvements, may not be innovation; but it certainly is better. And I rather have that than nothing.

As long as my daughter is in there, I will have a say who goes in the bathroom. my daughter isn't a woman yet, she is a girl, and I will do whatever it takes to protect her. I really don't care, as long as iOS 5 beta 1 gets here soon. If we really have to wait for June well that sucks, but whatever.
The problem I have with this delay is that 2 other phones on my account are due for upgrade, and both of those people EXPECT a new iPhone in June. If I tell them more like October/November, they won't be happy, and will end up getting the iPhone 4 instead.
I sure Apple cares more about selling iPhone 5s this year than they do clearing out old inventory, so this delay is pretty poor management on their part.

I know you love your iPod and all (I am very fond of mine myself), but over the last few years Apple has been focusing a dispropotional amount of energy into their cute little gadget which has massively boosted their profits. If that were the case AT&T would simply skip over the whole mess with getting the deal approved by the US Department of Justice and the FCC and just buy a crapload of equipment to put up themselves with that $39 billion.
If the deal is approved T-Mobile's assets will be integrated into AT&T's network and AT&T is probably having all their handset manufacturers run similar testing on T-Mobile equipment to ensure compatibility.
Apple is not "wasting money" on a cell phone provider that is going away, and T-Mobile is not "getting" the iPhone.

Actually the reason for the battery drain is Apple updated the network baseband vocoder to the latest support UMTS/HSPA+ and better cell hand-offs in order to reduce dropped calls to an absolute minimum on GSM and similar on Verizon...
