I tend to believe All Things Digitals reporting since they are in bed with Apple and have been for years. Between Walt Mossberg & David Pogue, Steve's two hand picked suck ups, the rumors are fed direct to them. Lately to keep the scepticism at bay, either of those two have one of their minions write the article which keeps the other two flying under the radar. When the big announcements hit, then Walt takes it, writing a gushing article.
That said I'm very glad to see the date pushed back. Apple needs the extra time to get this one done right. I eagerly await the 5. Its Apples chance to build a really good smartphone. If they include a phone that works well, a proper 4" display, the new model will set an excellent standard. If it includes these basics I plan to order one asap.

I haven't bought a single song from Amazon, not because I'm against them (I luv my Prime membership), but because they only sell MP3's that simply don't sound as good as an AAC file at an equivalent bit rate. Dropping the price to 69 cents doesn't improve the quality of the product and that's not good enough for me.

And agree with Chundles that until we see ALL of Leopard's features listed, there's no way you can make a valid purchase decision on it.
Understand, I am not suggesting how you should spend your money. This is just another opinion. But, I have been through all the 'cats' from the .0 release on. I have never had reason to complain.
Apple may not be perfect, but they sure beat the pants off Brand X. I have been working in IT since 1981. I have spent the vast majority of time with Workstations and PC's. These include every incarnation of DOS and Windows, SPARC/Sun, SGI/MIPS, OS/2, and the IBM RS-6000 Series. I am a late arrival to Apple/Macs. In fact, it was somewhat by accident. But, I am now convinced OSX is the finest desktop OS ever made. Until this no longer the case, I will throw my support fully behind the most innovative HW/SW manufacturer in the world. I would gladly pay full price for a beta copy of Leopard right now.

They're behind Gateway in number of units shipped. Gateway produces and ships more units than Apple.

We Mac consumers cannot go to the DOJ and claim we have no alternatives (just because your alternatives suck doesn't mean you don't have them.) If Apple were wildly successful and exceeded this threshold market share, their business model may be interfered with by the government.

What if it's an actual Apple-branded TV? That's one of the latest rumors making the rounds, again :eek: Actually, if Apple did come out with their own HD (1080p) TV, I would be very interested in purchasing it. It would have TV built into it (of course), and therefore would be able to do everything TV can do, only without having to attach a set-top box to the TV. Additionally, since Apple is designing it, the new actual HDTV would be magical :D
I really don't see Apple making an HDTV, but I've been known to be wrong before (although I don't like to admit it :o).

right now its reformatting into a RAID, boss wanted to RAID it. lost 2 frames no biggie. here's what i got before that
[22:05:44] pleted 2500 out of 250000 steps (1%)
[22:54:37] Completed 5000 out of 250000 steps (2%)
so thats about 50 mins per frame. i was thinking maybe that was due to the clock speed being 2.26 or the HT. the old 3ghz MP does a frame in the low to mid 40s

Yeah, after all if you buy a coffee there u have to sign a waiver of responsibility for burns, then reply YES three times to the cashier asking "Are you sure you want to buy this potentially scalding-hot coffee?" ... but what's it matter, thanks to people not wanting to take responsibility we can't buy coffee above 82 degrees fahrenheit. lol

I guess I have the opposite view of this since I will buy from iTunes as long as they continue to provide a lossless format--and Amazon provides only a lossy format. That is more important to me than a slight price difference. AAC plays on anything I need to play it on--and it could be converted to another lossless format such as FLAC if you really wanted to get out from under Apple's proprietary format. I am also a huge Amazon fan and a Prime member and buy a lot of stuff from them--but not MP3s.
I don't want to burst your bubble but Apple sell their tracks in a lossy format. Apple's format for iTunes purcases is a different beast to Flac.

Apple has never used extreme edition processors. It's outside the scope of their market (aside from beyond their TDP).
However, that's immaterial to the overall point. You tried to claim that apple skimps on some products, therefore them skimping on LTE because they can makes sense. That's no longer the case, Apple does use mobile quad core processors, so your claim no longer has any basis.
Really? So the fact that they did not have laptops with mainstream mobile quad core CPUs before Sandy Bridge when every other computers manufacturer had them is "immaterial" now? With LTE it's the same story all over. After they finally get in a year or two you'll probably be able to say again that it's immaterial. I'm usually not a big fan of bird shots involving human accessories, such as the table and chairs, but this one is just stunning. You exposed the bird perfectly as there are tons of details in the feathers, and the color separation from the background makes the bird standout.
