"iX" = "Ix", which is the nickname for the character Ford Prefect in the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

Obviously, the new Apple device is either a digital watch or a towel.

It's the new iWatch nano with a built in towel rack!

Oooh that looks better than Parallels. I like the connectivity stuff above too. :)

It will be interesting to see changes the parallels will make. competition is nice. unless you are microsoft...

I'm still waiting for a 3-D way of exploring the finder.

Something similar to the movie Hackers

Core Animation, just one more step in that direction

i wonder how you click, or make a selection. it would be pointless if you could scroll wothout touching the screen, but had to touch it in order to click on the scroll wheel.

Yeah, that is a good question. It would seem to be a very touchy thing to differentiate scrolling from clicking the buttons. Maybe they'll move back to the 3G interface with the separate buttons. It seems that it might feel a bit awkward to me to not receive any tactile feed back.

I'm excited to see what Apple comes up with.

I have no idea what happened except Plutonius got lynched and isn't a WW. Are Chrmjenkins and Appleguy 321/123 okay? Are they Specials? I can't tell if I'm on the Detention Level of a Star Destroyer or on the bridge of the Enterprise D.:confused:

The stories are best read when hi/drunk/tripping. appleguy and chrmjenkins' prominaint stance in the narritivies does not reflect their in game roles. Actually, I wrote up the first narrative then assigned the roles via random.org.

You'll get no argument from me here. Been using the MX-1000 since my PC days and love it to death. My trackpad sees the use isntead of a MM, but same feelings :)

But I can see Steve Jobs announcing the improved bluetooth MM:

It's WWDC and he's in the middle of his stevenote. he 'accidentally hits something' and messes something or other up. He acts angry and yanks the MM away from its cord.
The cord just pops off and he pulls it out of hte USB port.

Then he keeps on using it as if nothing happened.

"oh, and we have the new bluetooth mighty mouse available now!

    that's at least 3 MX-1000 users we have that are well-satisfied :-)

The computers that are just finishing a CPU conversion, but are still rated as being good buys by non-Mac publications?

    Perspective, my young padawan, perspective....
I hear a bit of what he is saying though. I mean there wasn't much innovation, just.... it was more like building the perfect car, say something like a Subaru WRX ( my car that I love very much) but replaced with a nicer engine from Porsche.... some better tires off a Lancer.... a nice tranny off of Porsche again.... neverthless... this is what they did with the Mac. Took some great stuff out there like Glossy Screen, Webcams, and Intel chips and put em in our loving Mac. However, the only piece of innocation was the Maglev charger. There was no new standards... no new gear. Yet, I do believe you are asking for too much if they are expected to innovate every product revision. Its becoming a very big company.... its no longer a couple thousand products where you can mess-up on some new innovation...

But I'm not worried... there hasn't been much innovation elsewhere either so its not like Apple is behind... they are in front. Just not WAY in front. We'll see what happens with Leopard/802.11N/Santa Rosa/HD DVDs/Hybrid HDs..... innovation is in the pipeline. Don't worry.

2007 is going to be a very good year.

And 2008 even better. Presidential Election! ;)

It's too late for Microsoft - they are just riding Apple's coattails now, in a desperate attempt to create something that can compete with iTunes+iPod...but thats all it is, a desperate attempt

Remember MS has a big pile of cash for marketing and windows install base is also huge. So this product will probably succeed in a way or another.

Is it gonna beat iPod? Who knows, but it will be hard.

To be honest, I've had more application crashes and restarts on OSX than I have under XP/Windows in the past 3 years. So much for "crash resistant" - and yes, I've had 4 kernel panics since I got this iMac home; that's more than the number of BSODs I've had under XP in 4 years.

Which means -- as everyone is saying -- that there is something wrong with your computer. I have a MacBook, two Intel iMacs, and a Mac Pro in my house, and they do not crash despite heavy daily use. My poor Mac Pro is running three different operating systems right now using Parallels, with nary a complaint. If you are getting unexplained kernel panics on a clean install of Mac OS X, then you have a hardware problem.

Hardware problems can affect any OS -- I've seen Windows systems that get daily BSODs. It's not because "Windows sucks", it's because there was a sub-par memory chip or somesuch in the system. Likewise Mac OS X crashes, when nobody else is experiencing a problem, are not an indication of the stability of the OS but rather of your hardware.

You're quoting me back to me when all of us (including me) were talking about that other guy that is having hardware problems because his Parallels "sucks." Parallels kicks ass on my C2D 20" iMac - hence the reason I piped up to be the first to say something is wrong with the other guy's machine if he can't get it working right.

On mine, which is stock hardware except for the 2GB of RAM I have in it, Parallels starts up in 4 seconds, boots my XP VM in 9-10, shuts down in 3-4, restarts the same VM in under 5 seconds (have yet to figure that one out, probably because of caching someplace; I don't even see the XP splash screen when it reboots/restarts because it's so fast), suspends in 22-25 seconds, resumes in 30-34, and I have no issues with any hardware at all in my XP VM. I even burn CDs and DVDs from the XP VM over FireWire/USB without hassles (Plextor FireWire/USB external).

So, on a similarly configured piece of hardware, if he's having suspend/resume times that seem to be 4-6x longer than others then, as you said, there is something wrong with the hardware. If none of the rest of us are having said issues, your line of logic would follow and apply to his machine since he's the only one reporting such ridiculously long suspend/resume times among other things.

Parallels works for me. Since I can't post specific benchmark data for Parallels and that other new-on-the-scene virtualization software for Macs <hint, hint> I'll just say this:

I completed the testing I said I was going to do, and Parallels simply lays the smackdown across that other software. And yes I'm well aware that other software is in beta - or pre-beta late alpha as one person put it - and that's fine. But I paid for Parallels, and to use that most famous line about Macs:

    It just works.

Oh yeah, it beats that other software even with multi-core CPU support enabled. Go figure.

    bb

Parallels sucks but until now its been the only REAL game in town.

Ah... the clarion call of lamers. Might as well bash Windows since it's so pervasive while you're at it. And it's still no excuse for stealing the software and breaking the faith. Bleh...

Learn from Google? What has Google developed that's anything close to an OS? And no, Chrome OS doesn't count...it's a giant web browser, with Cloud Apps...

By that same vein, what has Apple ever developed that's anything close to a OS ? And no, Mac OS X, a bunch of components bought/taken from the open source community doesn't count... it's just a Unix distribution with a GUI layer on top.

It's easy to discount anything going with that mentality. The fact is, Chrome OS is as much an undertaking as OS X was. It's more than just a "Web browser" since web browsers cannot be booted and don't provide graphical sub-systems, input management and process scheduling obviously.

(yes, I do realise Mac OS Classic existed).

And to answer your question directly : Android. ;)

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

That looks sexy. I dont think they'll be able to go back to a metallic back though because they'd struggle to put antennas anywhere else than the back...

The current Apple TV is a great product at a great price. They just need to expand on it by adding more features and more capability. Open it up for apps, especially when combined with an iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone and you could have an amazing product.

I have stayed out of this one for a while, but now he has gone from "sick" to "awesome" with this video on Funny or Die.

I don't even know what to say...

Honestly, me neither. I don't know whether to shake my head incredulously or LMAO. Did Charlie get paid for this?

    Say nothing.

It's the only way to kill him.

Won't happen. Chuck Norris can't even kill Charlie Sheen; the Adonis DNA-infused tiger blood is like Kryptonite to Norris.

I understand from the news coverage that they attacked her after she used the woman's restroom.

Her transgender nature, and their reaction to that was absolutely central to this crime. If that isn't a hate crime, I don't know what is.

I wouldn't want that person in the same bathroom with my daughter.
